Benvengudo

Story of the hotel

Benvengudo 4* is a luxury country-house hotel hidden in the heart of Mediterranean garden in the picturesque Baux-de-Provence in the South East of France.

The story of the hotel starts in 1967 when Maryse and her husband, Daniel Beaupied, Michelin-star Chef de Cuisine at the Riboto de Taven, built an authentic family hotel in Les Baux-de-Provence. When their daughter, Carole and her husband Viktor took over, they decided to perpetuate the heritage by bringing their personal touch, upgrading Benvengudo to modern and luxury standards, while preserving the Provençal traditions and especially the family soul of the establishment.

Thought as a large house, this charming hideaway is composed of several buildings built up with the white stones of Les Baux. 28 rooms & suites are all uniquely decorated with delicate hues and soft shades of beige. Provencal furniture, paired by Maryse Beaupied while she was still the mistress of the place, marry beautifully with the contemporary luxury of the interiors. Colorful paintings of Yves Boussin, a local artist and friend of the family, adorn the walls.

Cooking is an art in Benvengudo gourmet restaurant. Here the young Chef Julie Chaix, who had practiced at the kitchens of the greatest Chefs, puts all the colors and flavors of the South on your plate. Daughter of market gardeners and native of the country, she strives to give her fresh and daring creations a local flavor, the one of Provence. Julie sources herself fruits and vegetables at local producers, picks up the aromatic herbs in the organic garden of Benvengudo and dresses her dishes with olive oil extracted from the fruits harvested directly on the estate. The family restaurant of Benvengudo offers thereby a simple and authentic menu with sophisticated dishes accompanied by a fine selection of wines, including neighboring wine estates.

Appreciate the idyllic surroundings of the Mediterranean garden with its hidden nooks to evade and indulge, the refreshing pool, the bar to take an evening drink before enjoying the restaurant… The hotel also has a pétanque court, as in a novel of Marcel Pagnol. Benvengudo, which means “welcome” in Provençal dialect is your sunny passport to an elegant, gastronomical, and refined stay.
