Getting married at Santa Lucia

Getting married at the edge of the Caribbean! It's the dream of all romantics: a marriage under the sun, beside the crystal water...and this dream can become a reality in St. Lucia.

In the heart of the Lesser Antilles, between Martinique, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the little island of St. Lucia is the setting of a heavenly landscape, known among other things for its twin mountains, the Pitons, who overlook the crystal sea.
The natural beauty of St. Lucia will seduce all romantics: the palm-fringed beaches, beautiful colonial houses, the gentle tropical breeze, and the peaceful music of brass bands and the intoxicating scents of the kitchen.

Directions for the Best Day of Your Life

Plan a short week on the island before the wedding in order to prepare everything to be sure your marriage will be legal. The newlyweds will be warmly welcomed and pampered throughout their stay in one of the great hotels of the island. Hotels can take care of everything including help with the planning and organizing of the wedding. Nothing will be forgotten: the bridal bouquet, floral arrangements, photos, video, orchestra, wedding cake, etc... Prices will of course vary depending on the hotel.
After two days on the island, a local lawyer can apply for a license on your behalf. You must receive the marriage license two days before the date fixed for the ceremony.

Administrative Procedures for Marriage

You must provide:

• Your passport.
• Your birth certificate.
• Evidence of the final divorce (if either spouse is divorced)
• The death certificate of the deceased spouse (if either spouse is widowed).
• If one of the spouses has changed their name, they must provide proof of the legal act of that change.
• If either of the spouses is under the age of 18, they must provide proof of parental consent in the form of an affidavit stamped by a notary.
• If any required documentation is not written in English, an authenticated translation must be provided.

Applications for marriage are made through the local lawyer with the Attorney General, who issues the marriage license after the couple has resided in the country two days. The Attorney General must receive the application approximately four working days before the date of the ceremony.

For administrative procedures you must count $ 402.50 EC for notary fees and official act of marriage, $100 EC for registration fees and $ 8 EC for the marriage certificate. (Approximately € 128 in total).

To get married in a church

For a wedding in the Catholic Church, your local priest must contact a priest on the island to ensure that you have taken all necessary steps to be allowed to get married in a Catholic Church.

Long live the newlyweds!
