The evolution of a popular dance

No one is certain of the date that marks the creation of tango.  However, we believe this dance was born at the end of the 19th century, along the Rio de la Plata in the more popular neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.  Very quickly, tango became popular in Europe and then continued to spread worldwide.
