How to get there

Picinguaba is located equal distance between Rio and São Paulo. However, access via the airport in São Paulo (GRU) is easier (better links with Europe, on the airport road to Picinguaba ...).

The simplest is to select the proposed transfer by the hotel that guarantees the best conditions of comfort and safety.

Car
Car rental at the airport in Rio and São Paulo is also possible. About 200 reais (100 USD) per day for a good car with air conditioning, including insurance and unlimited mileage. Be advised that if you do not know the region or do not speak Portuguese, finding your way around Rio and Sao Paulo and locating the Rio-Santos road that leads to Paraty can be difficult, even perilous. Avoid travelling at night (poorly marked roads). Count 3 h 1 / 2 to 4 hours to drive to Picinguaba from Rio or São Paulo.

Bus
Buses depart regularly from the rodoviaria Rio or Sao Paulo to Paraty or Ubatuba. Acceptable comfort. Count 50 to 80 reais (25 to 40 USD) for one way. From Paraty or Ubatuba, take a taxi to Vila Picinguaba (around 90 reais, 45 USD). Some local buses also liaise between both cities, but you will have to swap buses at the border of the State.
