Spirit of Africa is a lodge in the Limpopo province, 250 km northwest of Johannesburg airport. Built in an authentic South African style, in the heart of a private reserve, it will make you feel the atmosphere of the movie "Out of Africa".

Arriving from the long track taking you away from civilization, one feels lost by the beauty and grandeur of the wilderness. The 6 deluxe bungalows are scattered in nature. Once installed, you will enjoy the privacy and comfort of the tastefully decorated rooms, especially the unobstructed view from your room on the bush... You are in a reserve!

Each bungalow has its own decoration. The rooms are painted in warm bleached tones, with touches of red, green, black, or white color depending on the room. The decorative elements further style and differentiate each room: canopy bed, animal skin rugs, and wicker trunk in the "Safari Spirit"; designer lamps, giraffe statues, red chair, and headboard with traditional "Zulu Heritage" coloured hats ... The room "Out of Africa" is probably the most representative of African romance. The decoration blends traditional objects and contemporary artifacts from local communities.

The appreciation of nature and authenticity does not impede your comfort! Each room has a large stylish bathroom, air conditioning, safe, minibar, WiFi internet access and a private terrace.

Nestled in nature, the Spirit of Africa Lodge is naturally involved in ecology and uses solar water pumps, low energy light bulbs for the garden, and has a solar heated outdoor pool. Organic waste is recycled at the reserve itself and the rest is taken by a specialist company. Finally, for the delight of your palate, the garden is organic. Your stay will truly be ecotouristic!

Experience a Lodge in the heart of Africa

The Spirit of Africa Lodge is in the heart of a nature reserve, which allows you to have a drink on your terrace whilst watching the animals: antelopes, elands, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, warthogs, many species of birds, reptiles and predators ... And you will see the adorable little Pumba, the mischievous and curious meerkat.

In addition, the owners are working passionately to reintroduce the cheetah ... A small Sabou is already there!

Services and activities on site

The room price includes full board, open bar, minibar in your room (coffee, tea, water, soft drinks, beer, juice and house wines), and excursions.

The Spirit of Africa Lodge offers a comprehensive program: different daily safaris with a qualified guide speaking French (FGAS) and / or English, for visiting the nearby reserves while seeing more animals including the "Big 5":  the elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo.

You can also ask the hotel to organize other excursions (at a cost) to the region of Cape Town, Victoria Falls or the region of Kruger Park.

To relax, you can take a sunbath near the large swimming pool surrounded by a wooden deck or on one of the 2 large terraces.

If you bring your golf clubs with you, the hotel can book you somewhere in the neighborhood (Rooiberg - 14 holes, and Thabazimbi - 9 holes).

Spirit of Africa is located in a malaria free region. Neither treatment nor special vaccination is necessary. Mosquito repellents are supplied free of charge. The rooms are also equipped with romantic mosquito nets.

The Spirit of Africa Lodge proposes a safari to discover the Pilanesberg National Park. The crater of an extinct volcano serves as a national park setting. This is one of the largest volcanic complexes of its kind in the world. And you can find many rare minerals there making Pilanesberg one of the most remarkable geological phenomena. Several sites dating from the Stone Age and Iron Age are scattered throughout the park.

Like the Marakele National Park, Pilanesberg is located between Kalahari and Lowveld. Nuances of color, varied habitats and panoramas make Pilanesberg a delight for the eyes with the blending hills, wooded ravines, typical bush, and grasslands vegetation of the 55,000 ha park.

Besides the 'Big 5': the elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo, Pilanesberg is home to almost all the mammals of southern Africa.
