Casa Maria is a warm colonial residence of the XVI century and is located in the upper part of San Miguel de Allende. The house immediately immerses you in a typical Mexican atmosphere where hospitality, friendliness of the staff and customer service are king.

Casa Maria, with its vaulted ceilings, great  wooden beams, terracotta tiled the floors, and hand-painted ceramics, offers a journey into the bygone colonial Mexico. The boutique hotel has 6 comfortable and luxurious rooms and suites.

The bougainvillea flower garden of the house is a great place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

The luxury of privacy

Each of the 6 rooms have charming Mexican names, are furnished with wood and have a private bathroom with typical Talavera ceramic tiles. Wake up in the morning immersed in a Mexican environnement ... You can choose to stay in a Deluxe Room,  or in a Junior Suite on the first floor with nice city views. The Master Suite, ideally suited for lovers who will appreciate the jaccuzzi, boasts superb view of San Miguel from its private terrace.

The house's atmosphere is very typical including colonial style elements such as Oaxaca carpets, black pots and massive seventeenth century wooden doors. Additionally the house is decorated with typical Mexican handicrafts and Alebrije. The latter are small characters (often imaginary animals) made of different types of paper or carved wood and painted with very bright colors according to a Mexican technique invented in 1936.

Everything is organised so that the guests of this charming and authentic B & B will feel at  home. Guests are invited to to enjoy breakfast around the large table in the dining room, in the garden, or on the terrace.

But the heart of the house is definitively the lounge where people meet to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee by the fireside. The lounge is open 24h/day and features newspapers and a television to catch up on the latest happenings in the town and in the rest of the world. The lounge is the central meeting place of the house and has a library with nice books about San Miguel de Allende.

The beauty and richness of San Miguel de Allende is famed internationally. Proof being the recognition of this colonial city as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. San Miguel de Allende is an outstanding illustration of the blend of typical colonial influences and sixteenth century urban styles. The religious and civil architecture depicts the evolution of different styles, integrated into a homogenous urban landscape.

The Atotonilco sanctuary is considered as a remarkable architectural ensemble illustrating  a particular vision, inspired by the doctrine of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. Its interior decoration and especially its paintings make it a sanctuary and masterpiece of Mexican Baroque.
